In photographic terms, a "panel" refers to a curated set of five images that share a common connecting theme—be it subject matter, emotion, style, or narrative. This format allows photographers to explore a concept in greater depth, presenting a cohesive visual story where each image contributes to the overall message. The power of a panel lies not only in the individual quality of the photos but in how they relate to and enhance one another, creating a unified and compelling presentation that invites reflection and interpretation

Peter says that he has spent most of his life taking photographs and have been an active member of Beacon Camera Club for over 25 years. He gained his LRPS and ARPS in Visual Art and then a second ARPS in MultiMedia. He has a full range of photographic styles, turning his hand to most things, and have had success in club and regional competitions and have served as a judge for many years. His current photographic interest is in creating audio-visual sequences.

The Forest of Dean Camera Club is a welcoming and vibrant community of photography enthusiasts based in Gloucestershire. Founded in 1944, the club has grown to include members of all ages and skill levels, united by a shared passion for capturing compelling images. They meet regularly at Viney Hill St. Swithin’s Sports and Social Club during the winter months.

Available to clubs across the region, it features both prints and projected digital images that span a wide range of genres and styles. Whether viewed as a boxed set or in digital format, the portfolio offers an inspiring glimpse into the creativity and technical excellence of photographers throughout the Midlands—making it a popular and enriching event for camera clubs each season.

The highlight of the year, the AGM. A chance to have your say and help shape the future of the Club. Awards will be handed out for the winners and runners up in the various competitions held throughout the past season. Judging for the Chairmans Challenge (Night) will be internal

Club Social at the Hare and Hounds Churchdown
As the season draws to a close, what better way to reflect and unwind than gathering at the Hare and Hounds for a well-earned celebration? The upcoming meal isn’t just a chance to relax—it's a moment to honour the incredible creativity, dedication, and friendly competition that defined Gloucester Camera Club’s year. Whether it was the thrill of winning, the courage to put a piece forward, or the joy of growing through feedback, every photograph brought something special to the community. Now, with the pressure off and cameras momentarily set aside, it's time to simply enjoy good food, great company, and the shared pride in all that's been achieved.
The Hare and Hounds will no doubt play host to stories retold, laughter rekindled, and perhaps even a few plans quietly sparked for next season. In the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the pub, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts and friends, we celebrate not just what was captured through the lens, but the connections made along the way. Here's to the images that moved us, the judges who challenged us, and the camaraderie that keeps the club’s spirit alive. Let the evening be a tribute to all that was—and a toast to all that’s yet to come.

Club Christmas Social at the Fountain Inn
A new venue for us this year at the Fountain Inn in Westgate Street, Gloucester
We have been unable to book Misters again so this year’s venue will be the Fountain Inn.
The deadline for confirmation is mid November so we need to gather names, deposits and food choices quite quickly. The Fountain Inn comes with a very good reputation for it’s food. Details will be sent out separately.

Speaker - Mike Martin EFIAP, AWPF, BPE1* - Shooting People
Mike is a very active member of Bristol Photographic Society, he lectures on the BPS Intro To Photography course, he organises the Bristol Photographers With Disabilities group and is also the studio manager at BPS.
This talk charts his journey into creative portraits, discussing how to get started, the value of collaboration with others, thoughts composition and style, the importance of shooting for yourself, all illustrated with prints on Fotospeed papers and inks prints. Images are accompanied with a description of the processing in an attempt to de-mystify and to encourage members of the audience to become more adventurous and have a go themselves. If time permits (rarely does) I show how I made some of the creative images, including 'before and after' shots.

Speaker - Phil Cooling FRPS - Dreadful, Wonderful..ish and Weird
We welcome Phil, (who judged Round 5 of our Annual Competition last season,) back to the club to present some of his work.
Phil says he has been an Art lover from an early age, with a particular interest in Surrealism & Expressionism. His portfolio contains classic shots of Landscapes, Nature etc. but his passion is creating "other worldly" composites from as many as 1,000 of my photographs, that give a glimpse into worlds that don't exist.
These images take many hours, sometime months, to create.

This is a lecture on my personal view of what judges look for in the composition of a good picture using my own photographs to illustrate. There are lots of my pictures in this lecture which I hope would be of interest to photographers of all levels of experience and include some audio-visual sequences.
