What We Do
At Gloucester Camera Club, we promote and encourage all aspects of photography, offering a welcoming, inclusive space for enthusiasts of all levels—from complete beginners to seasoned professionals.
Weekly Club Evenings
Every Tuesday (September–April), we meet at Pineholt Village Hall for an engaging mix of activities, including:
Guest speakers and expert-led workshops covering everything from creative composition to advanced editing
Interactive “photo appraisal” evenings for constructive image critique
Regular photo shoots and photo walks, where members get hands-on experience and inspiration in a social setting
Summer Activities
During the summer months, the club continues outdoors with photo walks and themed photo challenges. We also run a short beginners’ photography course led by experienced member Mark Kemp, designed to help newcomers get comfortable with their camera and the fundamentals of photography in a relaxed, friendly setting.
Competitions & Exhibitions
Monthly competitions for both prints and digital images, with classes for all experience levels
Special themed competitions such as Panels, AV (Audio Visual) presentations, and The Gloucester Cup—our annual Set Subject competition, with genre-based themes like Architecture, Nature, Fine Art, Portraits, or Sport
We also represent the club in inter-club competitions and take part in events organised by the Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF), where we showcase our members’ work and compete regionally
Learning & Growth
We support all our members in developing their skills—whether you're editing in Lightroom, preparing competition entries, or working toward photographic distinctions like LRPS, EFIAP, or GPU. Our more experienced members are always ready to offer mentorship, feedback, and support.
